  • Chekhov plays require brilliant actors
  • No villains, no heroes, no lessons
  • “My job is to show humanity in clinical detail”
  • No such thing as too much research
  • “The author’s intent matters not”
  • VERY dangerous to make judgments about your character; it shuts off exploration – instead, try to understand them
  • In comedy, look for the truth, don’t actively seek the funny
